Mission Statement

The mission of James Hurst Elementary School is too continuously and successfully:  provide literacy across all content areas, implement instructional rigor, provide innovation, and develop leadership skills that will prepare our students to achieve academic excellence, to compete in the real world, and to become productive citizens of the community.

Vision Statement

The vision of James Hurst Elementary School is to create an environment conducive to teaching the head, the heart, and the hand; so that our students will develop self-discipline and self-confidence to learn to think, explore, create, and ultimately experience academic excellence.

Belief Statement

James Hurst’s beliefs are indicative of our commitment to high expectations for all students, commitment to excellence, and a committed community of learners and stakeholders working together for success through continuous improvement.  We believe:

All stakeholders are responsible for student success.

Instruction must be rigorous, data-driven, differentiated, standards-based, and implemented with

     research-based strategies, curriculum, and programs.

Student success in meeting high standards requires input and support from the home and

    community.

Provisions for academic excellence for all students should be provided in a caring, healthy, safe,

     secure environment.

“One Team…One Mission…Excellence!”

What's Happening

  • DRINK SMART TO PLAY HARD
Choose drinks with less added sugar. Teach kids how to recognize drinks that are high in added sugars. Encourage them to choose water instead of sugar-sweetened beverages. Kids should drink 2 to 3 cups of low-fat (1%) or fat-free milk a day, depending on age.

    CHOOSE MORE FRUITS & VEGGIES
Offer kids fruits and vegetables during meals and snacks. Try new fruits and veggies together as a family.

    LIMIT SCREEN TIME
Help kids discover fun ways to stay busy and active this summer. Limit TV and video game time to no more than 1-2 hours a day.

    GET ACTIVE
Kids need at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day. Help your family get moving with games, dancing, and more

mission It is the vision of James Hurst Elementary to recognize the need of the students to have a strong academic foundation as established by our state. We will create an atmosphere that promotes a desire to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
